Campaign finance reports for Ward 5 run-off

Campaign finance reports for the Norman Ward 5 run-off election were published Wednesday, March 29 at the City of Norman website.

Reports show incumbent James Chappel raised a total of $14,990 in funds for the duration of his campaign. Chappel relied heavily on contributions from individuals in the banking & finance sectors, as well as real estate, homebuilding, and development interests.

The majority of Chappel’s funds were spent with the Oklahoma City-based political consulting firm, Skyfire Media.

Challenger Sereta Wilson raised a total of $18,598, relying on smaller contributions and in-kind services from local business owners, educators, farmers, and retired professionals.

The majority of Wilson’s funds were spent at locally-owned businesses providing printing, signage, mailing services, and food for volunteer canvassers.
