  • Council set approve separation agreement with City Manager

    Following recent executive sessions, Norman City Council is set to approve a “Separation Agreement,” accepting the resignation of City Manager, Steve Lewis at the August 14 council meeting.

    Lewis served as the city manager since August 2007. According to Lewis’s amended employment agreement, he will receive $154,774 in severance pay and other compensation.

    According to the terms of the separation agreement, only Mayor Lynne Miller will be permitted to communicate with media or the public concerning the mutually agreed-to termination of Lewis’s employment as city manager. The agreement states:

    The City, officers, agents, employees, officials and council members, except as provided for in this section, shall not be permitted to communicate with any person or entity regarding City Manager concerning any matter, including, but not limited to, City Manager’s past performance, reasons for separation, opinions of City Manager and/or anything at all to do with City Manager.”

    According to the agreement, the city’s Director of Human Resources is limited to providing only the following information:
